KIDS IN FAITH
Kids in Faith (formally known as Sunday School) offers the Nursery for children under 3 nd classes at 9:30 AM on Sundays for children 3 years to 6th grade.
The Nursery is located off the first floor gathering area and is staffed by Carol Sammon, Nursery Coordinator, and volunteers. The nursery is available for infants to 4 year olds during the 8:15 and 11:00 worship services. During the 9:30 service, the nursery welcomes infants through 2 year olds. Children ages 3 and older may attend Sunday school at 9:30.
Preschool & Elementary Sunday School – 9:30AM
MUMC uses Cokesbury’s Deep Blue Curriculum for ages 3-5th grade. Lessons for pre-school to kindergarten share Jesus’ message through singing, crafts, music, and play.
The Elementary age kids meet in room 204 for a children’s worship, which includes activities, music, weekly Bible story, and prayer. They then break into age level small groups for activities and reflection that reinforce the weekly lesson.
The Submerge Curriculum is used to share Jesus’ message through music, drama activity, journaling and more. Weekly sessions allow tweens to dive deeper into the Bible and apply its lessons to their daily lives.
Youth Sunday School – 9:30AM
During the 2015-2016 school year, this class is participating in the church wide study of The Story. Weekly lessons include watching the video curriculum that goes along with the chapter being examined that week followed by discussion of the life application of the Biblical truths presented in the material.
Youth Sunday School – 11:00AM
High School (9th-12th Grade)
This group of 9th-12th graders meets weekly for Bible Study. It is an opportunity to ask questions and work through the Bible together. They are currently working through the Gospels. All are welcome to join this fun and entertaining class.
This group of high school juniors meet weekly to discuss current issues and topics, relating them to Scripture and applying it to everyday life.
Gehring Class- 9:30
The studies and discussion in this class are timely and designed to build your Christian faith.
The Heart to Heart class serves physically and developmentally delayed adults. A special curriculum is used and the class is led by experienced volunteer teachers. Caretakers are welcome to attend class with their client. Many of the participants attend worship together at 9:30 AM.
How Can I Serve?
Volunteer teaching opportunities are available in our classes. Our preschool and elementary classes have a weekly teaching rotation which offers volunteers an opportunity to “serve an hour a month” with children. In compliance with our Child Protection Policies, our children and youth ministry volunteers are required to submit an application with references and have a background check completed prior to the start of their volunteer services. Additionally, on-going training on child safety, current ministry trends and ideas to use in the classroom are provided.
